Singapore, 12th October 2005 - Epson, the world leader* in data projectors has announced the launch of the EPSON EMP-X3. This quick start-up compact XGA 3LCD projector offers users ease of use with brightness levels of up to 2000 lumens at a class shattering price of S$1,999. 

The EPSON EMP-X3 is the culmination of Epson's leading technologies in the market of high-performance projectors. Epson's proprietary 'Instant Off' feature allows users to power off and pack up the projector almost instantly without the necessity of waiting for a cool-down period like traditional projectors; thus, time is better spent on other important tasks. This projector is capable of a four-second startup and an almost zero-second shutdown with an 'Instant Off' feature, the fastest total start-up and shutdown time in the world for projectors**.  Epson's E-TORL (Epson-Twin Optimize Reflection Lamp) together with the 3LCD Technology combine to project brighter (up to 2000 ANSI), more vivid and sharper images.

Synthesizing advanced technologies
The EPSON EMP-X3 offers seven preset colour modes - Photo, Presentation, Theatre, Sports, Game, sRGB and Blackboard - thereby allowing users to obtain high picture quality when using for different applications. The new built-in help programme also provides a step-by-step guide through problems users might face. Similarly, the Source Search feature instantly and automatically recognizes source inputs and enhances operation ease, nicely complementing the large and well-marked buttons now found on the EPSON EMP-X3.

The EPSON EMP-X3 is available at all Epson authorised dealers from 12th October 2005, at S$1,999.

About 3LCD Technology

3-panel Liquid Crystal Display ('3LCD') is a projection system using three LCD panels (also known as high-temperature polysilicon or HTPS). A projector with the 3LCD system uses dichroic mirrors to break the white light from the lamp into red, green and blue light. Each of the three colors of light is then passed through its own LCD panel and then recombined by a prism before being projected onto the screen. The result is smooth-moving images with rich, full color, since all three basic colors are included in each pixel of the projected image at all times. Images projected with 3LCD are bright, natural and are gentle on the eyes.
