SINGAPORE, 20 May 2008 — Epson, a world leader in digital imaging, announced the launch of the EPSON GT-20000.  The new high quality A3 business flatbed scanner, bundled with a suite of powerful document management software, is positioned to help businesses ease into setting up a digital office workflow.

Powerful functions & easy operation
Office automation begins with zero warm up time.  The EPSON GT-20000 is ready to scan from the moment users hit the start button.  High productivity can be achieved with the optional automatic document feeder (ADF) that scans up to 23 ppm (pages per minute) for monochrome and 15 ppm for colour documents.  For voluminous tasks, the optional ADF can load up to 100 sheets in a single scan and also supports duplex scanning.

To help users eliminate the guesswork, the auto paper size detection means there is no need to pre-define paper size.  In larger office settings, an optional network card can be fitted to connect the scanner to a local area network to facilitate sharing. 

With a broad flatbed surface, the EPSON GT-20000 can accommodate documents up to A3 size and scans at a high 1200 dots per inch resolution - ideal for scanning broadsheet blueprints and other precision technical drawings. 

Features for every office
Epson has included a comprehensive software bundle to help offices get started on office automation.  The Epson Scan software intelligently enhances text for greater sharpness, while Colour Enhance/Dropout allows users to either enhance or remove a colour.  The latter is useful in removing images such as coloured stamps and watermarks to facilitate Optical character Recognition (OCR) processing.
The bundled OCR software, ABBYY Fine Reader 6 Sprint Plus helps to convert scanned documents into an easily editable text format.  Alternatively, users can opt to automatically save scanned documents as PDF files.  Additional features include the convenience of adding or editing pages into scanned documents.  When confidentiality matters, scanned images and documents can be saved as Encrypted PDF files.

Page Manager 7 offers basic document management functions including tagging/categorizing and retrieval.   

As an added cost saving, the EPSON GT-20000 is low on power consumption and is certified EnergyStar compliant to help lower overall operating cost.
