EPSON SINGAPORE HOSTS “THE KISS, SINGAPORE”
Exhibition showcases entries inspired by Robert Doisneau’s “Kiss at City Hall”

Singapore, 23rd August 2006 - Epson, a world leader in digital imaging and printing solutions today announced the official opening of epSITE's latest photo exhibition - "The Kiss, Singapore".

This latest photo exhibition is a culmination of a two-month long competition themed "Snap that Kiss".  The competition's objective was to seek out Singapore's very own version of the famous "Kiss at City Hall", by renowned French photographer Robert Doisneau.  "The Kiss, Singapore" challenges photographers to portray distinctive Singaporean traits in a kiss.  As a universal symbol that encapsulates love and passion, the photo entries span from depicting kissing in its fullest sense - from a playful gesture to being the ultimate expression of adoration and sensuality.

At the official opening, prizes were awarded to the best entries by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Hisashi Shimizu, Managing Director, Epson Singapore.  The top three winners are:

1st Prize "Closer" by Lloyd Chan
2nd Prize "The Kiss that Lasted as Long as the Cheers" by Kang Chai Yen
3rd Prize "Kiss-B (The Perfect Kiss)" by Bernard Poh

Ms Kimberly Ong, epSITE's Manager, said, "As a leader and strong supporter of digital imaging, Epson is proud to be a sponsor of the Month of Photography (MOP).  Apparent from the large number of amateur submissions, 'kiss' is a theme that we can easily relate to.  This exhibition is an excellent demonstration of how digital imaging is fast gaining popularity as a visual art form among the masses."

Ms Shirlene Noordin, Director of Phish Communications, added, "The Kiss, Singapore" is perhaps the most appropriate way to conclude this year's Month of Photography exhibitions.  It has been an overwhelming success and we are very pleased that corporate sponsors such as Epson Singapore have wholeheartedly committed themselves to furthering the appreciation of digital imaging in Singapore.  With their continued support, we are certain that the next edition of MOP will attract even more interest from keen photographers."

The winning shots, together with special mentions, will be on-show at epSITE in Wheelock Place from 23 August to 12 September 2006.  "The Kiss, Singapore" is open to public daily from 11am to 9pm.  Admission is free.  For more information, please contact epSITE at 6736 4986.
