EPSON BREAKS NEW GROUND WITH A3+ PHOTO PRINTER FOR ADVANCED AMATEURS
EPSON Stylus™ Photo R1900 – New EPSON UltraChrome™ Hi-Gloss2 inks and breakthrough image processing algorithms for the perfect picture

Singapore, 30 January 2008 - Epson, a world leader in digital imaging, announced the launch of the EPSON Stylus™ Photo R1900.  Designed for advanced amateur digital imaging enthusiasts, the new eight-ink A3+ photo printer is equipped with a new ink set and improved image processing technology to help realise that perfect print.

New EPSON UltraChrome™ Hi-Gloss2 inks
Photo quality prints take a great leap forward, with the new EPSON UltraChrome™ Hi-Gloss2 inks.  With the inclusion of a new orange ink and improved gloss optimizer, EPSON StylusTM Photo R1900 offers a significantly wider colour gamut, ensuring prints have natural skin tones and colour consistency with smoother tonal gradation. The new set of inks portrays striking realism in every print.

In addition to the standard cyan, magenta and yellow colours, the inks add matte black, photo black, red, orange and a gloss optimiser as well.  While the orange ink helps expand the colour gamut in the red area, producing rich and natural skin tones in A3+ size portraits The improved gloss optimizer helps to produce a smoother and glossier finish over highlights, which usually have no ink layer, creating a silky and high gloss finish from edge to edge.

Whether the prints are for an exhibition showcase or for a portfolio, EPSON UltraChrome™ ink series' reputation for outstanding print durability and minimal metamerism, means premium quality in every photo.

EPSON New LUT (Look Up Table) Technology
Accompanying the advanced ink system, Epson has teamed up with the renowned Munsell Colour Science Laboratory of Rochester Institute of Technology, a leading centre of colour science, to develop the EPSON New LUT Technology.  This intelligent technology uses newly created algorithms to calculate and translate RGB colours to match CMYK prints for maximum precision and consistency with the original image source.

Epson's LUT Technology also helps with seamless transition between different shades of colours for the most natural and accurate replication of the widest range of colours.  The end result is prints with smooth gradations, reduced graininess and low colour inconstancy, all of which combine to create clear and detailed photographic images.

Media flexibility and enhanced connectivity
The printer is also noted for its flexibility for use, with a wide variety of paper media as well as printing directly onto CDs and DVDs.  This offers photographers with an unsurpassed choice of formats to present their works.  In moving with digital imaging trends, the EPSON Stylus™ Photo R1900 is capable of working without a PC too.  The new printer offers direct photo printing from inputs including digital cameras and photoviewers via PictBridge. In addition, dual USB 2.0 ports allow for multiple PC connections in the photo studios as well.

Superior technologies
The EPSON Stylus™ Photo R1900 features advanced Epson printing technology to ensure high quality prints.  Epson's Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT), allows the print head to fire droplet sizes as small as 1.5 picolitres, a feature essential in fine art prints. This will ultimately optimise the ink use and printing speed, while reducing graininess in prints.  Users can also be assured of incredible sharpness from the printer's 5760 dots per inch resolution.

The EPSON Stylus™ Photo R1900 is packed with latest advancements in colour science.  For top-quality large format prints with minimal effort, the latest A3+ printer from Epson fits the photography enthusiasts' bill perfectly.  Priced at S$1199.00 and available from 22 February 2008, contact your nearest Epson dealer for more information.
