Q: What is Auto Area Segmentation (AAS)?
A: Auto Area Segmentation detects and optimizes text and graphics on the same page, so your graphics are crisp and clear and your text is easily read by your OCR software.
Q: What does Text Enhancement do?
A: Epson Text Enhancement Technology (TET) allows the user to OCR documents easier with fewer errors. This technology will eliminate background color and miscellaneous dots from the background so the software can clearly read the text and your OCR results are more accurate.
Q: What does it mean when the Ready light is off and the Error light is flashing?
A: This is an indication that there has been an interface error. This means that the interface setup is wrong or the scanner is not properly connected to the computer. Check the interface connection then press the Reset button or turn the scanner off and then back on to reset it.
Q: Why is my entire image distorted or blurred?
A: Check to make sure that the document is placed flat against the document table. The document may have shifted while scanning. Be careful not to move the document or the scanner while it is scanning a document. Ensure that the scanner is on a sturdy surface, not tilted or unstable.
Q: Why is only part of the image distorted or blurred?
A: Check to see if the document is wrinkled or warped in the area that does not look clear. Make sure that the document is uniformly flat and comes in contact with the document table.
Q: Why is the color at the edges of my image patchy or distorted?
A: The edges of the image may be discolored if the document you are scanning is very thick or warped at the edges. Try covering the edges of the document with opaque paper to block outside light. It could also be that the document extends beyond the limits of the document table. In this case, you would need to change the position of the document.
Q: Why is my image faint or out of focus?
A: Either the document was not placed flat against the document table or you need to darken the image by adjusting the brightness setting in your software.
