Q: The printer is making abnormal noise.

A: Abnormal noise may come from the printer momentarily immediately after a new cartridge is loaded. This does not indicate malfunction. Remove the imaging cartridge from the printer, gently rock it back and forth two or three times, and reload it into the printer.


Q: The printer does not print and the On Line light is off.   

A: Press On Line once to put the printer on line (the On Line light comes on).


Q: The background is dark or dirty.

A: Lighten the Density setting on the Panel menu of your printer driver.Turn off the printer. Clean the paper path inside the printer using a soft, dry cloth. Clean internal printer components by printing three pages with only one character per page.  You may not be using the correct type of paper for your printer. If the surface of your paper is too rough, printed characters may appear distorted or broken. Smooth, high-quality copier paper is recommended for best results. There may be a problem with the Imaging Cartridge. Remove the cartridge, shake it gently from side to side, and then reinstall it. If this does not solve the problem, replace the Imaging Cartridge.


Q: Black or white bands appear in the printout.

A: Turn off the printer. Clean the paper path inside the printer using  a soft, dry cloth.  Clean internal printer components by printing three pages with only one character per page. There may be a problem with the Imaging Cartridge. Remove the cartridge, shake it gently from side to side, and then reinstall it. If this does not solve the problem, replace the Imaging Cartridge.


Q: What could be causing uneven darkness in my printout?

A: Your paper may be moist or damp. Do not store your paper in a humid or damp environment. Make sure the paper type is correct. Confirm if the density setting is light. Turn off the printer. Take out the developer cartridge, shake it gently from side to side and then from front to back to distribute the toner evenly, and then reinstall it. If this does not solve the problem, install a new cartridge. Then print several pages to check the print quality.


Q: Missing areas on printed image.

A: Your paper may be moist or damp. Printing is sensitive to moisture absorbed by the paper. The higher the moisture content in the paper, the lighter the printed output. Do not store your paper in a humid or damp environment.  You may not be using the correct type of paper for your printer. If the surface of your paper is too rough, printed characters may appear distorted or broken. Smooth, high-quality copier paper is recommended for best results.


Q: The printed image is light or faint.

A: Darken the Density setting on the Panel menu of your printer driver. Your paper may be moist or damp. The higher the moisture content in the paper, the lighter the printed output. Do not store your paper in a humid or damp environment.


Q: Mem Overflow appears on the control panel of the printer.

A: This message indicates that you need to simplify the page you are trying to print, change your memory allocation, or add more memory to your printer. Try simplifying your page by reducing the number or size of fonts or the number or size of graphics, or both.
 

Q: Service Req eXXX (cXXX) appears on the control panel of the printer.

A: A controller error or a print engine error has been detected. Write down the error number listed on the display and turn off the printer. Wait at least five seconds and then turn it back on. If this error still occurs, turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, and contact a qualify service person.
