Epson Stylus Photo 750

Q: What is the difference between the Stylus Color 740 and the Stylus Photo 750?

A: The Epson Stylus Photo 750, with its 6-color printing system, can reproduce a wider range of colors and can do it more accurately than 4-color printers like the Epson Stylus Color 740. Because of the 6-color technology, the output has virtually continuous tone, especially in the fleshtones. The speed from the Epson Stylus Photo 750 will be faster at printing photos, while the Epson Stylus Color 740 will be faster at printing text.

Q: Does the printer support USB technology?

A: Yes, the printer comes with a built in USB port. A Windows 98 and Macintosh USB printer driver is on the CD-ROM bundled with the printer and is also available from the Epson Singapore web site.

Q: Do the Stylus Photo 700 and Stylus Photo 750 use the same ink cartridges?

A: No, these printers use different black and color ink cartridges.

Q: What do I need to do to print with my Stylus printer on a LocalTalk network?

A: The printer is not a LocalTalk printer.

Q: How do I trash the printer driver from my Macintosh?

A: Trash the "SP 750", "Epson Monitor3", and "Epson Folder" extensions from your "Extensions" folder (the "Extensions" folder is located in your "System Folder" folder in your hard drive). Then, restart your Macintosh. If you have printer drivers of other Epson printers installed on your system, you may need to reinstall them after removing the Stylus Photo 750 driver.

Q: I installed the printer driver on my Macintosh, but it isn't showing up in the Chooser. What should I check?

A: Make sure the QuickDraw GX extension is disabled, and make sure the "SP 750" and "Epson Monitor3" extensions are enabled. Then, restart your Macintosh.

Q: I am getting the message "Sorry SP 750 cannot be used" when I try to select the "SP 750" icon in the Chooser. What should I do?

A: This message indicates that there is something wrong with the driver or the way it was installed, and you will need to remove and reinstall the driver. To remove the driver, trash the "SP 750", "Epson Monitor3", and "Epson Folder" extensions from your "Extensions" folder (the "Extensions" folder is located in your "System Folder" folder in your hard drive). Then, restart your Macintosh and reinstall the driver. If you have printer drivers of other Epson printers installed on your system, you may need to reinstall them after removing the Stylus Photo 750 driver.

Q: Whenever I power up my Macintosh the printer switches from the printer port to the modem port. How can I correct this?

A: Turn off the printer and make sure AppleTalk is inactive in the Chooser.Go to the Extensions Manager and disable the "AppleShare", "File Sharing Extension", and "Printer Share" extensions. Open Preferences and drag the AppleTalk, Finder, and PrinterShare preferences to the trash. Restart the Macintosh and go to the Chooser. In the Chooser, set any Apple serial printers (ImageWriter's and StyleWriters, for example) to the printer port, then set the Stylus Photo 750 (represented by the "SP 750" icon in the Chooser) to the printer port. Restart the Macintosh again, turn the printer on once the Macintosh is fully booted, and check to see if the Stylus Photo 750 stays on the printer port.

Q: I am getting an IF4 error after installing the USB printer driver. The Epson USB Printers icon in the Device Manager shows up as a Diamond and I get an error stating that there is a problem with the printer?
