Singapore August 17 2005:  The increased use of wireless applications demands crystals with high frequency accuracy and low phase noise for transmitters in order to secure reliable transmission and minimize interferences. With the NS-32R Epson offers a unique product, based on the NEW SAW technology, which helps to realize such systems.

 

The patented technology reduces the dependency of the frequency on the temperature (FTC) to less than 50% of conventional SAW resonators. Used as a direct RF-reference, a narrow-band transmission is granted. The optimal FTC makes the NS-32R even superior to AT-cut crystals, especially when it comes to applications in industrial or automotive temperature range. As the NS-32R oscillates directly in the required transmission frequency, no PLL is required. Therefore it is optimal for battery driven applications. The wide frequency range of 312MHz to over 870MHz covers all relevant ISM-bands.

 

A very low series resistance of 30Wmax. grants a reliable start-up and a low current consumption. The internal structure of a SAW make it the ideal choice for applications in with severe environmental conditions. With the NS-32H, a variant for Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) is available. A protective coating of the electrodes, another Epson original technology, helps to reduce the field failure rate due to contamination to Zero-Defects level.

 

Target applications range from RF-ID, over TPMS, Keyless Entry to ISM-band Transceivers, Zigbee, Low Power Radio Applications and Wireless Audio Applications. The NS-32-R is in mass production.
