Singapore November 16 2005: Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") has developed a new SD memory card host interface LSI compatible with SD CPRM. The S7R72E01 LSI controls SD memory cards compatible with CPRM copyright protection technology for digital audio systems, enabling easy construction of SD-Audio/SD-Video/SD-Binding systems. In addition to allowing the construction of environments offering total protection for confidential information, the new LSI is guaranteed to operate in temperatures from -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for installation in a wide range of products. Sample shipments of the S7R72E01 have already begun, and volume production is scheduled to commence in 2006.
Target products for the LSI are likely to include mobile phones, DVD recorders, car audio equipment, car navigation systems, and portable media players.
